Hi, my name is Layne Stackhouse and I’m a trial attorney at Jones Ward PLC. I’m currently representing women who have suffered devastating injuries while on the Mirena IUD. Many of my clients have developed a severe neurological condition called pseudotumor cerebri PTC, or intracranial hypertension. PTC is particularly dangerous is not treated properly because it can lead to permanent vision loss or even blindness. Unfortunately, because the symptoms of PTC can be caused by a variety of medical conditions, some of my clients are not diagnosed right away which can increase the risk of developing permanent vision loss. The cardinal.
Sign of PTCis called papilledema, or swollen optic nerves. This is generally characterized by vision problems such as blurred vision, double vision, temporary blackouts, blind spots, or floaters. Patients with PTC may also experience severe headaches or migraines. Or, if you already experience headaches or migraines, you might notice a change in their severity or frequency. Some PTC patients also notice vertigo, dizziness, or nausea associated with the headaches. If you or a loved one experiences any of these symptoms while on Mirena, you should seek medical attention right away. You may need to see an ophthalmologist.
